I have been making miniature porcelain dolls since 1981. Originally
from New Orleans, I now live in Katy, Texas. I have 2 children and a very
understanding hubby. I am a pharmacist who is taking a "sabbatical"
from her day job to do what I really love, singing and making dolls full time
for the first time in 22 years! Every year, I attend doll and miniature
shows all over the U.S. I am also a member of NAME (the National Assn of
Miniature Enthusiasts) and of UFDC (the United Federation of Doll Collectors).
I am also an avid collector and restorer of small antique dolls.
What is a Miniature Doll?
You may ask this question, and with the growing popularity of doll and
miniature collecting, its a valid one! "Miniature" is a broad
category describing "small" dolls. Most of the dolls that you will see in
my doll picture picture gallery are in 1 inch to 1 foot scale, the most
common scale for dollhouses. This means that the men dolls are about 6 inches
tall, the ladies are about 5 1/2 inches tall, and so on. I also make dolls
in smaller scales, like 1/2 inch to one foot and even 1/4 inch to one foot!
Since I also love antique dolls, I also make small antique reproduction
"cabinet dolls", "pocket dolls", and "travel dolls"... in the antique style where scale was not
critical. In the popular modern dollhouse and miniature collecting hobby, scale
is a very important issue.
